Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh Tunes In Milltown

Outstanding on the night of the fiddle recital at the Willie Clancy Summer School, Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh played three tunes in honour of three people who were ‘mad about music’ but no longer with us. ‘They didn’t play themselves but loved it passionately,’ explained Ó Raghallaigh. The first tune was a polka in honour of Joan Looney, and written by Ó Raghallaigh himself, as was the second, which was a slide for artist Mike Kenny from Castleisland, and the third was Peadar Ó Riada’s polka tribute to Muiris Ó Rócháin, ‘Maith Thú, A Mhuiris’.
