Kevin Griffin, Eoin O'Neill and Quentin Cooper – Live in Liscannor, Co. Clare

Kevin Griffin is a banjo player from Doolin in County Clare. He has recorded three popular CDs – Traditional Irish Music from Doolin, Co. Clare (1997), Across The Pond with Roger Burridge, Michael Shorrock and Quentin Cooper (2002), and Kevin Griffin with Eoin O’ Neill and Quentin Cooper (2009) – and now a new video of his playing is proving particularly popular online. Philip Greaney from Applesauce Films explains:

The video came about when a friend of Kevin Griffin’s – Quentin Cooper, also a part of Applesauce Films – mentioned to us that there was hardly any videos of Kevin online. This was an opportunity for us to film a world renowned banjo player. We got in touch with Kevin and he was more than willing to participate in the video alongside Quentin and Eoin O’Neill.

The result is a set of three reels by Griffin, ‘The Floating Crowbar’, ‘The Humours of Castlefin’ and ‘Hughie Gillespy’s’, accompanied by Quentin Cooper on mandolin and Eoin O’Neill on bouzouki. Watch the video below:
