Pecker Dunne Has Died

The musician Paddy ‘Pecker’ Dunne has died in Clare, aged seventy-nine. Born to a traveller family in Castlebar, County Mayo in 1933, Dunne was best known as a banjo player and singer, but also played the fiddle, melodeon and guitar — his career had been marked by an event at the City Hall in Dublin earlier this year. In the following song, Pecker Dunne tells his story in his own words.
