Travelling with Instruments

A petition has been created to lobby European Commissioner Siim Kallas for the fair treatment of musicians travelling on airlines with their musical instruments. At present, many airlines do not allow instruments to be carried into the cabin (often even in cases where an extra seat has already been purchased), but insist on storing them in the baggage hold, where there is a risk of siginificant damage. The petition aims to create EU-wide regulations that permit instruments to be carried as hand-baggage, or for larger instruments, to be stored on an extra purchased seat.
