United Bible Studies at the Workman's Club
The experimental folk band United Bible Studies will play their first Dublin concert in a year at the Workman’s Club, Dublin, on Tuesday, 20 November, at 8pm. The event, presented by Deserted Village, will also feature a set from the singer Mossy Nolan and a solo set from Áine O’Dwyer, harpist with United Bible Studies. The group released a live album late last year, which was recorded on a United States tour in 2008. One review gives a sense of that performance:
The night culminated in the carefully controlled United Bible Studies, who skirted the knife edge of improv with a control that belied the size of the group … Band members seemingly took it in turns to lead the songs, there was a palpable sense of these performances being organic, one-off moments, none more so than the encore that somehow morphed into an Irish jig.
