Together: A Night Of Jazz With Scott Flanigan & Fabrice Mourlon

Together: A Night Of Jazz With Scott Flanigan & Fabrice Mourlon

Friday, 16 November 2018, 8.30pm

Join us for a night of Jazz as we welcome to The Crescent Scott Flanigan and Fabrice Mourlon.

Their new album Together is the result of a musical and human encounter that took place in Belfast in January 2015 at a Jazz night in No Alibis Bookshop. Since then the duo have shared other musical moments in Northern Ireland realising their mutual love for jazz and early 20th century classical composers such as Ravel and Debussy. The album reflects the sensitiveness and spontaneity they both like to express through their music. It combines contemporary original material with innovative takes on jazz standards and traditional songs.

Scott Flanigan is one of the foremost keyboard players on the Irish jazz scene. He performs both locally and nationally, and has recently performed with Van Morrison, the Ulster Orchestra, Jean Toussaint, Jim Mullen, Larry Coryell, Nigel Mooney, and Linley Hamilton. A keen composer and teacher, Scott has recently completed his Masters Degree in Jazz Performance at Dublin Institute of Technology, and is continuing education at Ulster University.

Fabrice Mourlon trained early in his career as a pianist and later joined a vocal jazz class at the Pantin School of Music in Paris. In 1994 he trained as a vocalist with Italian singer Valentina Casula and was a member of her workshop for the next half-decade. He also attended masterclasses with Maria Pia De Vito and Roger Letson. With the quartet he founded in 2004, he has performed in various jazz clubs in Paris, Rome and Belfast with Richard Razafindrakoto, Thierry Tardieu, Nico Morelli, Sebastien Jimenez et Benoist Raffin.

So why not bring a bottle and come along and join us for a night of Jazz at The Crescent!
