Schools Officer

The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra is seeking a Schools Officer. 

The Key Responsibilities are to:

  • Administer the CBSO’s Schools Programme, including arranging and managing all school based workshops, rehearsals and performances; liaising with CBSO musicians, teachers, freelance artists and other internal departments; act as the first point of enquiry for these activities.
  • Actively promote the existing programmes of work to schools within Birmingham, and the wider West Midlands.
  • Maintain partnerships and relationships with educational partners, music education hubs, academy trusts and other arts organisations and networks involved in educational and schools work.
  • Plan and oversee end of project sharing events at the CBSO Centre, Symphony Hall and other venues.
  • Support applications for Child Performance Licences for activity in Birmingham and ensure that all artists involved in schools activity have the appropriate level of DBS check and understand our Safeguarding policies and procedures.
  •  Liaise with the CBSO Marketing Department to maintain up to date information about all schools programmes, partnerships and opportunities on the CBSO website, social media and other platforms as appropriate.
  • To ensure that projects in schools are documented through photographs and filming, and that the appropriate level of consent is sought from participants and parents for use of these images.
  • Maintain accurate financial records for all schools projects and any other programmes of activity as required by the Learning & Participation Manager.
  • Accurately collect, collate and store data and personal details relating to participants.
  • Accurately collect, collate and represent monitoring and evaluation data relating to all schools programmes.
  • To support the Learning & Participation Manager in the development of partnerships and projects for schools - including Special Educational Needs and Early Years activities.
  • To support the administration of the Training Scheme delivered by CBSO with Birmingham Conservatoire.
  • To provide support to other Learning and Participation activities as required by the Learning & Participation Manager.
