The University of York will launch a new BA Business of the Creative Industries in 2020. To help develop, launch and deliver this new programme, the University’s Department of Theatre, Film and Television are seeking to appoint a lecturer in Creative Industries to start 1 September 2019. You should have a PhD in a relevant subject or equivalent professional experience. The University is particularly seeking someone with knowledge and experience of the Creative Industries, the theory and practice of the creative economy, institutions and policy. Detailed knowledge or professional experience of one or more of the following industries will be an advantage: film, television, games, theatre, popular music.

The university is seeking an excellent individual who has the ambition to make an impact in the field, can demonstrate international research potential, and who can inspire students through innovative teaching, contributing to programmes in both film and television production and interactive media. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of the creative industries through either research or professional experience, and understand the theory and practices of the creative economy, creative businesses and institutions, their operations, and audiences, and the policy environment they operate within. They will also demonstrate specific knowledge or experience of professional practice in at least one creative industry including film, television, theatre, games and popular music. They will be involved in the supervision of students and as well as undertaking administrative responsibilities in the Department.
