SPIN 1038 Student Race Day

SPIN 1038 Student Race Day

Wednesday, 3 April 2019, 1.00pm

One of Ireland’s biggest student events returns to Leopardstown Racecourse this April 3 with a packed programme of horse racing, entertainment and great live music. Having sold out the last number of years, the Spin 1038 Student Raceday once again looks to live up to its reputation as one of the biggest hits on the annual student calendar with an excellent race card and live music from Riff Shop.

No strangers to big crowds, Riff Shop have played Electric Picnic and the IMRO Radio Awards in recent times, as well as helping the Dublin GAA football side celebrate their All-Ireland Championship win. Set to release original material in 2019, the band also mix Jamaican Steel Pan with iconic tracks from the likes of Bowie and Stevie Wonder, making them the perfect party act for Student Raceday.

Now in its eight year, the Spin 1038 Student Raceday is an all-ticket event and pre-purchase is required. Gates are open at 1pm and the race card will feature seven races during the day, starting at 3.25pm, completing a vibrant afternoon of fun, sports, celebrity, fashion and music. The Best Dressed Guy & Gal Competition is supported by Noisy May and Jack & Jones with fantastic prizes on offer for those who put in the extra effort.

Spin 1038 Student Raceday comes hot on the heels of a hugely successful second Dublin Racing Festival and precedes what is shaping up to be another fantastic Bulmers Live at Leopardstown series, with announcements of artists set to play due to be revealed very soon.

Speaking about the 2019 SPIN1038 Student Day, Leopardstown CEO Pat Keogh said: “This year we’re expecting the SPIN1038 Student Raceday to be as big, if not bigger than ever before. This event sells out each year, it’s a tough ask but it’s proving to be as popular as ever. Every year we look forward to welcoming third level students to Leopardstown Racecourse for a day full of fantastic racing, entertainment and fun and we think it’s perfectly timed, right before students put their heads down ahead of exams. We are delighted to see students coming to Leopardstown on the back of attending the SPIN1038 Student race day. Many of whom have since become genuine racing fans, something which is so important for the future of racing”

Shuttle buses will run from DCU, UCD & Maynooth to Student Raceday, operated by JJ Kavanagh & Sons, for more information visit JJKavanagh.ie. Leopardstown Racecourse is only 20 minutes from Dublin City Centre on the Luas Green line. Leopardstown offers a free shuttle bus from Sandyford Luas stop to the racecourse free from 12.30pm
