The Contemporary Music Centre is delighted to continue its Spring 2014 Salon series in the Kevin Barry Room, National Concert Hall, 6pm, with William Dowdall (flute) 24 April 2014. The CMC Salon series involves a panel of independent curators and the Spring season is curated by Irish composer Ian Wilson..
Ian Wilson has curated an international mix of solo and ensemble performers playing works by a wide variety of composers from around the Island of Ireland and living overseas. The Season continues with Dublin born William Dowdall (flute), one of Ireland’s leading musicians, who combines a busy career as a soloist, chamber musician, and teacher. He will perform Massimo Davi, Fluidi; John Buckley, Sea Echoes; Solfa Carlile, Distopia; Raymond Deane,Tekeli-li; Patrick Connolly, Softly, This Way Comes and a piece by Sebastian Adams written especially for the night which will receive its world premiere.
The Contemporary Music Centre’s Salon series aims to encourage newcomers and enthusiasts alike to engage with the music of Irish composers. Each performance takes place in an informal atmosphere with dialogue encouraged between composers, performers and audience. Curator Ian Wilson will present the Spring 2014 series and as in previous years admission is free.
The Contemporary Music Centre is Ireland’s national archive and resource centre for new music. The Centre is supported by the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. The Centre would like to thank the National Concert Hall for the use of the Kevin Barry Room for the Salon series.
