Caoimhín O'Raghallaigh + Landless

Saturday, 20 October 2018, 8.00pm

The acclaimed fiddle player Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh is to embark on a select few dates around Ireland this Autumn to test out brand new material with his trademark 10-string hardangar d’amore fiddle and electronics.

Taking time away from his other groups: The Gloaming and This is How we Fly, Caoimhín will perform these intimate shows as a way to bring new and improvised material to some of his favourite spaces throughout the country.

This Summer has seen Caoimhín perform in the UK at festivals such as WOMAD and at unique events such as Nest Collective’s ‘Singing with Nightingales’ series. Over the past few years he has performed on some of the most beautiful stages in the world, including the Sydney Opera House, the Royal Albert Hall and the Lincoln Center. He has made fifteen recordings to date, ranging from quite traditional to fairly out there, and continues to explore the region where traditional music begins to disintegrate.

The Autumn shows will be a welcome addition as he begins the process of creating his third solo album. For tour details and tickets, visit www.islandermusic.net

Caoimhín will be joined by Landless for the performance at The Duncairn. Landless (Lily Power, Meabh Meir, Ruth Clinton and Sinead Lynch) are a traditional Irish vocal group from Dublin and Belfast who sing unaccompanied traditional songs from Ireland, Scotland, England & America in four-part harmony. A glorious live act to behold, their repertoire features songs of love, death and lamentation, as well as work songs, shape-note hymns and more recently penned folk songs. They have been spellbinding audiences around Ireland, the UK & Europe since 2013 and released their deeply impressive debut album ‘Bleaching Bones’ March 2018.
