Arts Internship

now available in Arts Project Management

Position starting immediately

ABOUT Kaleidoscope Night

Kaleidoscope Night is a hugely successful multi-genre music series that has entered into its 6th year of being since Sept 2014.  It is a funding-reliant, non-profit collective that promotes classical/contemporary/fusion music performance of the highest standard in an informal setting, atypical of the traditional presentation of classical music in Ireland and abroad.  The series is managed and curated by musicians Karen Dervan and Lioba Petrie but due to lack of state funding for 2015, the management requires an enthusiastic and impassioned intern to assist in a two ways; firstly, with a campaign to raise private/corporate funds to enable the survival of the series and secondly, with the development and planning of the series and company towards an administrative restructuring in 2016.

 OVERVIEW of the Internship

The intern will work alongside the Kaleidoscope Management to realise the raising of sufficient funds from various sources to secure the financial stability of the series in 2015. This internship will provide invaluable experience in arts project development and insight into the finest details of concert planning, from curation to budgeting to production. They will work with a dynamic duo that brings vast experience and knowledge of the music business to the table. Going forward, the planned restructuring of the series will see Kaleidoscope Night enter into a new chapter in 2016. Our aim is to secure funding to formalise the company and create a part/full time employment position to deal with the overall administration and management of the series and all other possible artistic endeavours that the curators wish to explore. It is our hope that the candidate that comes on board at this point could therefore become an integral part of the team and essentially carve out his/her own employment future in doing so.

Benefits

Kaleidoscope Night has enjoyed 5 years of great success and has really set the bar for a new and exciting way to present classical music. In the era of new management, the series now seeks to move forward in its administrative structure. The intern will therefore garner vital experience and have a direct input into the shaping of the future of the series, with a few to directly creating a future source of employment for themselves.

Expenses

Kaleidoscope Night is in need of funds so we don’t have anything specific to give I’m afraid! However, there will be opportunity to earn income from time to time as production/management assistant when one of the managing partners is engaged with her own freelance work or when performance opportunities other than the concert series are presented to Kaleidoscope Night, such as Culture Night etc.
