Introduction
Galway Rural Development Company Ltd (GRD) is a not for profit voluntary organisation, established in 1994 and contracted by the State to deliver a range of national and EU funded Programmes to benefit the people living and working within its operational area. GRD has a remit around combatting social exclusion through education and training initiatives. With this in mind, a commitment has been made to the development and implementation of music education programmes/projects in Co Galway.

GRD is inviting tenders for experienced music practitioners to develop and implement a primary school music programme in the Galway Rural Development operational area of East Galway, specifically in Tuam (string) and Ballinasloe (brass, woodwind and percussion).

Aim of Project
It is widely acknowledged that music is a potentially important tool to reduce early school leaving. The aim of the project is to initiate a pilot programme of music tuition in two primary schools in the Galway Rural Development operational area, Scoil an Chroí Naofa in Ballinasloe and Scoil Mhuire Primary School in Tuam.

Scoil Mhuire, Tuam will take part in an introductory string programme which will be focussed on children in 3rd and 4th class. Scoil an Chroí Naofa will take part in a programme focussing on brass, woodwind and percussion which will target 3rd and 4th class students.

The overall aim is to give young children affordable and easy access to music education, increasing their skills base and giving them a positive experience while developing a lifelong appreciation for music.

It is planned that up to 60 children will benefit from music tuition under the programme.
