Music Journalist, Shazam, London

Our product is evolving in ways it hasn’t done before, and our new Music Journalist will play a big part in that evolution.

This is newly created role sits within our brilliant Editorial team, and your job will be to help deliver a compelling and successful editorial product for the company.

You will work with the Music Editor and wider Editorial team to deliver world class news content for Shazam, specifically around headlines and picture selection.

What will you do?

•We need an amazing copy writer. A whizz around headlines and images, you’ll redefine the tone of our editorial and make it irresistible to the user. Every story will pass across your desk, and you’ll polish it until perfect.

•You’ll have a proven ability to get viral traffic and an established social media presence.  You’ll be passionate about our content being seen both on and off Shazam, and have unlimited ideas on the best ways to increase its visibility.

•With words at a premium, your obsessive attention to detail will be key.

•You’ll contribute ideas around music content daily at conferences and meetings.

•You know where to find the best music content online, especially around pop, dance and hip hop.

•You’ll help plan & produce exclusive music ‘tent pole’ events and weekly franchises.

•Work with the development and product team to implement creative new ways to produce engaging content.

What do we need? 

•2-3 years as a music journalist or similar.

•Excellent editorial skills

•Daily use of photoshop and content management systems.

•Self starter, ability to work alone when appropriate – but also across long term, complex editorial projects

•A near obsessive love of love of new music, including pop, dance and hip hop.

•Established social media presence with a good understanding of SEO & digital story telling.

We would also love it if you had:

•Existing contacts within the music industry.

•Experience interviewing major music stars in a previous role.

•Video editing skills.
