Chief Executive Officer

Sunday, 8 March 2015, 8.00pm

Following the announcement of the forthcoming retirement in summer 2015 of its current Chief Executive, Jeremy Cox, AEC is commencing a search for an individual of appropriate background, knowledge and experience to succeed him in this senior and strategically important post.

GENERAL INFORMATION ON THE POSITION

The AEC Chief Executive reports to the AEC President and works closely with the Association’s Executive Committee and Council.  The Chief Executive leads a small and Office Team which is located in Brussels.

The new post-holder will build upon the prominent profile that AEC has established in Europe, acting as an advocate not only for the Association but for Higher Music Education (HME) as a whole.  He/she will also maintain and develop the strong network of associate members from North America, Asia and Australasia who give an important international dimension to the Association.

Applicants should have leadership experience in the cultural sector or wide experience and knowledge of higher music education as it is practised within the European Higher Education Area. They will probably have held a senior post in European HME and will be able to relate as equals to institutional leaders in the field. They should have a clear and ambitious personal vision for the future of European HME, but also a readiness to listen to the membership, tap into its feelings and see those translated into concerted advocacy and action for the sector.

The position is based in Brussels (AEC Office) and requires frequent travels abroad.
