PA to Chief Executive

Monday, 25 May 2015, 5.00am

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is an open-access festival and is the greatest arts festival in the world. In 2014 over 25,000 participants staged over 49,000 performances of more than 3,100 shows with an estimated 2.1 million tickets issued.

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society (EFFS) is the company that organises the structure which underpins the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. At the helm of this organisation is the Chief Executive, supported by a Senior Management Team and a Personal Assistant, who reports to a board of Trustees, who represent the membership of the organisation. The Chief Executive is the external ‘face’ of the Fringe Society brand, nationally and internationally, as well as the executive officer and Company Secretary of the organisation.

The primary function of the PA to the Chief Executive is to provide dedicated administrative services and support to ensure the Chief Executive is fully able to deliver against the mission statement of the organisation. The role supports the Chief Executive with comprehensive, detailed and accurate information (for use both internally and externally to the organisation), therefore requires extensive knowledge of the EFFS, its personnel, and external stakeholders, as well as an understanding of its aims and objectives. This role also supports key external partnerships, such as funding bodies, the board of Trustees and key Fringe constituents.

The PA to the Chief Executive represents the Chief Executive and the EFFS, both internally and externally. Therefore, the post holder should be professional and discreet in dealing with potentially sensitive or difficult information and maintain absolute confidentiality at all times.

The role sits within the Operations Department (reporting to the Head of Operations) and supports the core administrative function of the Fringe Society where required.

The EFFS is committed to reducing its environmental impacts in its everyday operations. We are also committed to maintaining the open-access policy of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. We are an Equal Opportunity employer and welcome applications from all sectors of the community. We also participate in the Two Ticks – Positive about Disabled People scheme. We expect employees to support these commitments and to assist in their realisation.
