Keyboard Tutor

Department: The Music Department houses a large undergraduate and postgraduate community and is responsible for three UG pathways, four taught MA pathways and multiple research students. The key areas of musicology, performance, composition and music technology lie at the heart of its work. The Department’s ensembles include the University Choral Society, University Orchestra, Chamber Choir, Guitar Ensemble, Schola Gregoriana and Irish Traditional Group. The Department makes a unique contribution to the life of the University and the local community. We are seeking a Keyboard Tutor/Répétiteur to join our team on a full-time basis during teaching terms.  

The Role: The Keyboard Tutor will serve as répétiteur, tutor and accompanist for the Department of Music and will report directly to the Head of Department via the Performance Coordinator. The duties will include, but are not limited to:

– Répétiteur for Choral Society and other choral groups, including weekly rehearsals, sectional rehearsals and performance in concerts;
– Répétiteur for final-year undergraduate and MA performances, including timetabled performance classes, formally allocated rehearsal hours with individual students and accompaniment of students in end-of-year concerts, lunchtime recitals and master classes;
– Accompanist for performance examinations;
– Tutor for group piano and keyboard skills classes, including teaching and examining
– Consultation with students on performance preparation and repertoire;

The duties and responsibilities outlined have been listed as general and standard requirements. Additions or amendments may therefore be made to reflect the specific requirements of the Department.
