University Academic Fellow in Music, Media, and Mediation

Monday, 20 October 2014, 5.00pm

In recent years, the intersection of music with conceptions of mediality and mediation has become increasingly central to conceptions of music’s place in the contemporary world, intersecting with the sociology, anthropology and perception of music, ethno- and ecomusicology, digital mediation technologies, communication studies, journalism, and marketing.

You will already have a developing research profile within one or more of the above areas that will contribute to the University’s ambition to excel at REF2020, with a sustained record of internationally excellent (and some world-leading) publications. Supported by your mentor, you will help to bring international speakers to Leeds, present your own work internationally, and develop international and local networks of research collaborators. Working with current staff in the School of Music and across the faculty, you will develop and lead a taught postgraduate programme within your area. You will co-supervise PhD students alongside current members of staff. You will also be expected to submit grant applications for a personal fellowship (e.g. an AHRC early-career Fellowship; Leverhulme Fellowship; Horizon 2020) and small individual or networking research grants as well as work with colleagues across the schools to submit larger grants.

You will have strong experience as a researcher within one or more of the areas outlined above, the ability to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and a clear vision both of the development of a taught postgraduate programme within their area and for their personal academic development.

University Grade 8 (£38,511 to £45,954)
