From dawn ‘till dusk, this entire May Bank Holiday week, Drogheda will be filled with an exciting mix of music, theatre, visual art, literature, film and family fun for all ages. The first festival of the summer swings into actionrunning from 27th April until May 4th with a diverse programme. The Festival brings in critically acclaimed national and international artists. With a particular emphasis on family and participation,  Drogheda welcomes young and old into its historic streets and buildings for creativity, fun, and new experiences.  

The Drogheda Arts Festival is now in its 11th year. This year’s line-up promises to be something special. From the iconic: guitarist/activist Wayne  Kramer,  to the traditional: Nuala Kennedy & Eamon O’Leary. From the contemporary: Ailbhe Ní Bhrian, Ruth E. Lyons, Mairead O’hEocha and Desperate Optimists, to the classical avant-garde: Hungarian composer György Kurtág. We have the Irish premiere of a new composition by acclaimed composer Ian Wilson. We have site-specific performance, theatre for both adults and children, visual art exhibitions by some of Ireland’s most important practitioners. We have spectacular street performances, and even a ‘mini festival’, with our Bank  Holiday afternoon at Beaulieu House & Gardens.The festival will also feature a new Spoken Word event, a late evening performance by the vocally brilliant Jaime Nanci, readings by noted men of poems that have moved them to tears, and three new treasure tours of the Boyne Valley, which will highlight its art, cultural and natural beauty.
