Máirtín O'Connor, Cathal Hayden, Garry Ó Briain & Contempo Quartet
Is cúis bhróid agus áthais í d’An Droichead go bhfuil an seachtar ceoltóirí iomráiteacha seo linn chun ár bhféile a oscailt i mbliana. Tháinig an seachtar le chéile don chéad uair deich mbliana ó shin agus tá lúcháir orainn go gcuirfidh siad scoth an cheoil chlasaicigh agus traidisiúnta ar an ardán i mBéal Feirste don chéad uair le linn Féile An Droichead.
Seven extraordinary musicians reunite for one night to again perform the perfect blend of Irish Traditional and Classical Music. Formed in Bucharest in 1995, ConTempo Quartet is recognised as one of the most exciting and vibrant ensembles performing today
having performed to audiences world-wide. In 2014 ConTempo was appointed as RTÉ Quartet in Residence, a prestigious position which they currently hold. Máirtín, Cathal and Garry need no introduction to traditional music audiences. They are amongst some of the most respected and celebrated traditional musicians today and An Droichead are delighted to welcome them to Belfast for this unique performance.
After thrilling audiences in the west of Ireland for ten years and recording a unique CD – Spiccato Junction in 2007; Bogdan, Ingrid, Andreea and Adrian with good friends Máirtín, Garry and Cathal will perform music which is full of energy and humour – with titles such as The Bachs of Oranmore, Locatelli’s Trip to Lough Atalia and the Romanian
Traditional song Men’s Dance.
