RTÉ Archives department is home to Ireland’s largest and oldest audio-visual collections  maintaining hundreds of thousands of hours of film, video and sound  recordings on analogue and digital formats, stretching back over nine decades of continuous public service broadcasting history.  Growing by about 7% annually, the RTÉ Archives is an important support to RTÉ’s multi-media services and a rich resource for the wider creative media industry, cultural partners, academic research and the educational sector.  Of immense value to the Irish people, the RTÉ Archives is an important part of Ireland’s national cultural heritage with content widely shared and enjoyed by the public through RTÉ Archives online services every day.

RTÉ Archives is now recruiting a Programme Manage for its Digitisation and Preservation Projects. This key role will lead, co-ordinate, manage and deliver a suite of projects in a programme of work integrated within a new state of the art digital media archiving service to manage, store, and deliver high quality, accurate and fast access to content for all its stakeholders. 

Key Responsibilities

  • The primary responsibility of the Programme Manager will be the overall project management, co-ordination, reporting and delivery of the programme of work for RTÉ Archives across a suite of legacy digitisation projects to the agreed specifications, timelines, budgets and financial targets
  • Reporting directly to the Head of Archives together with a functional reporting line into the Director of Acquisitions and Co-Production, the role will provide regular reporting to the archives projects’ steering committee
  • The Programme Manager will take ownership of the Archive Projects Plan and; ensure full alignment of the projects within the RTÉ digital infrastructural project for the development of new integrated storage and content management systems for all RTÉ media content
