Celebrate the Celtic New Year and Hallowe’en with music, song and storytelling by the DIT Irish Traditional Music Ensemble. The origins of Hallowe’en date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, which marked the end of summer and the harvest, and the start of winter and the New Year. This free performance is perfect for all the family!

The DIT Irish Traditional Music Ensemble, which combines both instrumental and vocal music, was originally modelled on the pioneering work of Seán O Riada and Ceoltóirí Cualainn, but has since forged its own sound and style. The ensemble features some of the finest young musical talent in Ireland today. Recent highlights include: performances on RTÉ Radio 1’s Céilí House; the Dublin International Game Music Festival; the Opening Concert of the prestigious Temple Bar TradFest; collaborative performances with the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, China Conservatory of Music, the Chinese Embassy of Ireland, the Moroccan Embassy of Ireland, and the Korean Embassy of Ireland; a live radio and online broadcast for National Music Day with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra; a televised O2 Arena performance with the Notre Dame Marching Band; tours of Louvain (Belgium), Rome and Savannah, Georgia, USA. Directors: Odhrán Ó Casaide, Kieran Hanrahan and Tom Doorley. Presented by DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama.
