Lecturer in Composition

Tuesday, 17 April 2018, 11.55pm

The Department of Music seeks to appoint an outstanding composer (with primary expertise in instrumental and/or vocal music for the concert hall) at lecturer level, who is able to teach, supervise and assess on BMus and MMus programmes, provide PhD supervision, as well as create works which demonstrate a high level of compositional accomplishment and originality.

The appointed candidate will be an excellent teacher who can develop and deliver teaching for core modules at undergraduate and taught postgraduate level, as well as contributing to the Department’s suite of optional modules.

As King’s is committed to research-led teaching, the appointee must be able to demonstrate an established or growing profile of excellent research as a composer. Finally, the appointee is expected to have the commitment and necessary competences to actively participate in the Department’s everyday administrative functions.

The selection process will include a teaching / research presentation and a panel interview. Only shortlisted candidates will be asked to send portfolios. No responsibility can be taken for portfolios that have not been requested.
