DCU PhD Scholarship in Music

The School of Theology Philosophy and Music at DCU is offering a full-time PhD Scholarship in Music, including fees and €16,000 stipend per annum for up to four years. 

Closing date for research proposals is 10 June 2019. 

Introduction
The School of Theology, Philosophy, and Music at Dublin City 
University is a dynamic and creative learning and research environment with a strong commitment to social and cultural engagement, and world-class research. Applications for a full-time PhD scholarship are welcome in the areas of Musicology, Applied Musicology or Music Composition. The Scholarship provides fees plus a €16,000 stipend per annum for up to four years, subject to satisfactory annual progression. The Scholarship is open to IRE or UK students, EU students, and international students, who will be resident in Ireland for the duration of the degree.

Eligibility: Applicants must have an undergraduate degree in Music, or a related discipline at first-class honours or 2.1 level as well as a Master’s Degree in Music, or a related discipline. Candidates who are currently completing a Master’s qualification are welcome to apply. Following the offer of a Scholarship students will apply to register with the University through the postgraduate applications centre. www.pac.ie and must meet all the requirements of the University.

Application Procedure: Prospective applicants are encouraged to make informal contact with a faculty member whose research area covers their proposed doctoral work in advance of an application.  Completed applications must be emailed to mary.hayes [at] dcu.ie (  )before the closing date, indicating Music PhD scholarship in the subject line.  Applications should include a well-developed research proposal and if in composition, three scores of recent compositions as examples of your work. For further information and a full list of documents required see here.
