Lecturer in Music (Teaching Focused)
The Music Department at the University of Manchester invites applications for a temporary Lectureship in Music, tenable from 8 Sept. 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter until 30 June 2019, associated with the award of a Leverhulme Major Research Fellowship to Professor Susan Rutherford. Applicants from all areas of Musicology or Ethnomusicology will be considered, but preference may be given to those offering a specialism in vocal studies, performance studies and/or popular music.
You will be expected to deliver undergraduate and Master’s-level teaching and supervision, and to contribute to the management and administration of the subject area under the guidance of the Head of Music. While the post is primarily teaching-focused, it is expected that you will contribute to the research culture of the subject area; a notional 10% of your working hours will be allowed to pursue these activities.
You will hold a PhD in Music (Musicology or Ethnomusicology), demonstrate subject expertise in your specialist field, have a strong awareness of current thinking in the field and have a proven ability to provide high-quality and innovative teaching to a range of student groups at different levels.
