Northumbria University is seeking to appoint an outstanding leader in the History of Music, to work within the Department of Humanities. They particularly welcome applications from scholars working in the fields of EITHER western art music c. 1750-1914 OR music in twentieth-century America, though candidates working in all fields of music history will be considered.

This appointment offers an outstanding individual the opportunity to work with the Head of Humanities and other staff to establish this strand, building towards a Foundation year, an undergraduate and postgraduate taught programme and the development of opportunities for PhD studentships. Working under the overall management of the Faculty of Arts, Design and Social Sciences, the appointee will develop an academic core in music history and performance, aligned with industry-facing themes in management, technology, pedagogy and music in society.
