The work of artists illuminates the present, nourishes our understanding of the past, and inspires our vision of the future. Through Making Great Art Work – Open Call, the Arts Council invites artists and arts organisations to submit proposals for ambitious artistic projects. It is envisaged that projects funded under this scheme will take place within eighteen months of the award, with the substantial body of activity taking place in 2017.

Projects proposed may be in any artform or be crossdisciplinary. The priotities of the award are that the project will be large in ambition, irrespective of physical, temporal, or quantitative scale; and that it will engage with the public, as audience members and/or as participants.

The maximum amount that may be awarded to a successful application is €350,000. The total funding proposed for this scheme is €800,000.
