The Dublin International Piano Competition was established in 1988 and takes place every 3 years. Since its foundation the Dublin International Piano Competition has grown in stature, and now ranks among the most important piano competitions in the world. As well as receiving a prize fund, a prestigious list of engagements is secured for the winner including début concerts in London and New York as well as appearances at international festivals and concerti with leading orchestras. Previous winners have gone on to highly successful international careers.
Chaired by Artistic Director John O’Conor, the competition is adjudicated by distinguished members of the music profession from around the world : Zelma Bodzin - USA, Hyoung-Joon Chang- Korea, Finghin Collins-Ireland, Christopher Elton United Kingdom, Mary Lennon- Ireland, Antti Siirala-Finland, Jan Jiracek von Armin- Germany, Robert Weirich-USA, Dan Zhao-Yi-P.R. China.
Young pianists from Ireland and abroad who are chosen to take part are in many cases hosted by Dublin families in their own homes.
The 11th Dublin International Piano Competition will take place from May 18 - May 29, 2018.
