Lecturer Below the Bar in Ritual Chant and Song

Friday, 27 May 2016, 5.00pm

The MA Ritual Chant and Song programme is one of thirteen taught Masters programmes at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, which also offers two undergraduate programmes (BA Voice and Dance; BA Irish Music and Dance Performance), as well as doctoral-level research opportunities and a structured PhD programme in Arts Practice.

The catalyst for the development of this unique performance specialisation at the Academy was a longstanding creative collaboration with the Benedictine community at Glenstal Abbey.  The aim of the programme is to provide students with vocal tuition in a variety of ritual song repertoires with a specialist interest in Latin plainchant, within the academic context of historical musicology and ritual studies.

The programme has a special relationship with the BA Voice and Dance programme, which offers chant tuition as an aspect of its vocal stream. It also explores aspects of ritual studies as part of its broader academic interest in performance studies.

The Irish World Academy of Music and Dance is now seeking to recruit a Lecturer below the bar in Ritual Chant and Song.

Salary scale: €37,348 - €51,722 p.a.
