CMC/IMRO Copying Fund

Wednesday, 15 July 2015, 5.30pm

This scheme exists to assist in meeting the costs of preparing instrumental parts for performances of works by Irish composers. It is administered by the Contemporary Music Centre and funded by the Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO). Awards are normally in the region of 500.

Deadlines for applications are 5.30 pm on the fifteenth day of each quarter (January 15, April 15, July 15, October 15) or, if this falls on a weekend or public holiday, the next following working day.

Funds are available to assist in meeting the cost of typesetting and copying scores and/ or parts for the performance of concert works for four or more instruments and/or voices. Under this scheme, an individual or organisation which has employed a copyist to make instrumental parts for a new work may apply to have part or all of the costs reimbursed by the Copying Fund.

The work must be carried out to a high standard by a professional copyist. Parts must be typeset by computer. Copyists are urged to make a written agreement with those engaging them, clearly stating the services expected, the schedule for completion and the terms and amount of payment. While priority will be given to works which receive their first performance, newly typeset scores and parts produced for older, handwritten works by Irish composers will also be considered under the scheme. Funds will be distributed on a pro rata basis across eligible applications received each quarter.
