Lunchtimes with ConTempo: March

Lunchtimes with ConTempo: March

Tuesday, 6 March 2018, 1.10pm

The Galway Music Residency’s Lunchtimes with ConTempo series continues on Tuesday 6th March at 1:10pm. The current lunchtime series, entitled ‘Beethoven – Rage & Mystery’ focusing on the mature quartets by Beethoven, can be enjoyed on the first Tuesday of every month until June at St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church.

In this upcoming concert, the ConTempo Quartet will perform Beethoven’s String Quartet Op. 135. This great work was written in October 1826 and was the last major work Beethoven completed. Only the final movement of the Quartet op. 130, which ConTempo performed at February’s concert, was composed later. Op 135, Beethoven’s final complete work, was premiered posthumously in March 1828, one year after Beethoven's death. Hear it again 190 years later, performed by Galway’s own ConTempo Quartet.

Supported by NUI Galway (Education Partner), Arts Council, GMIT, Galway City and County Councils, and German Embassy, admission to this event is free, open to all and early arrival is recommended. For further information, visit www.thegalwaymusicresidency.ie.
