IFI Documentary Festival: The Curious Works of Roger Doyle

IFI Documentary Festival: The Curious Works of Roger Doyle

Thursday, 27 September 2018, 8.20pm

The Irish Film Institute proudly presents The Curious Works of Roger Doyle, a focus on the acclaimed Irish composer as he prepares to present his first opera.

This screening will be followed by a Q&A with Roger Doyle and director Brian Lally.

Composer Roger Doyle prepares for the staging of Heresy, his first opera, in Dublin in 2016. The film closely follows the rehearsals and preparations for the production, and explores over four decades of the surreal and otherworldly music of the ‘Godfather of Irish Electronica’. The film weaves together Roger’s own reflections on his practice with contributions from long-time collaborator actress Olwen Fouéré, filmmakers Joe Comerford, Bob Quinn and Cathal Black and others.

The IFI Documentary Festival runs from September 26-30 2018. Join us for five days which celebrate the best in documentary filmmakers from around the world, including fifteen features, our ever popular shorts programme, a panel discussion, special guests and many films receiving their premiere screenings in Ireland.

Tickets cost €11 and are available online at www.ifi.ie/doc-fest-the-curious-works-of-roger-doyle/ or by calling the IFI Box Office on 01-6793477.
