Cathedral 850 Opening Concert
The opening concert of Cathedral 850 will feature Limerick Sinfonia directed by John Davis with Stuart O'Sullivan as the soloist in Beethoven's 3rd Piano Concert in C Minor in a fitting celebration by local classical musicians of the 850th anniversary of this iconic Limerick building.
The orchestra will be joined by St Mary's Cathedral Choir (Director Peter Barley) and AnCor (Director Cecilia Madden) in Haydn's Mass in Time of War )Paukenmesse) with soloists Elizabeth Atherton, Sarah-Ellen Murphy, Wolodymyr Smishkewych and Rory Musgrave. In addition the orchestra will perform Beethoven's Coriolan Overture.
Cathedral 850 is a collobaration between St Mary's Cathedral, Limerick Pipe Organ Festival and Limerick Sinfonia in a series of concerts featuring orchestral, choral, piano and organ music in a musical celebration of St Mary's 850th anniversary culminating in a visit from the Choir of King's College Cambridge on Monday 16th July.
This concert has been made possible by the generous support from the Limerick City and County Council Festival and Events Scheme and tickets at €20 & €15 are available from the cathedral.
