Collection Management System Developer
CMC invites submissions to tender to develop and build a new collection management system (CMS) for the centre’s collections and information resources. The CMS will be based on a data model developed as part of an earlier project between CMC, Digital Repository Ireland (DRI), and the Insight Centre at NUI Galway.
CMC documents and promotes the music of living Irish composers, nationally and internationally. The Centre has a library of over 10,000 works and 4000 recordings along with a range of information materials and documents relating to Irish composers and their music. This collection is a unique resource for new Irish music and forms a central part of the centre’s work, providing its users with access to the music as well as detailed information on music in Ireland. The current system is based on a legacy database developed in FileMaker Pro, with associated digital materials stored in directories on CMC’s internal network. The CMS will function as a complete system for CMC’s library collections and information, and will fully integrate with CMC’s website, providing public access to parts of CMC’s collections.
