Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra is seeking expressions of interest to identify a composer-in-residence for our new Change Maker ensemble. The composer will join us on our unique journey in creating a new BSO ensemble and its own repertoire, exploring and developing new musical landscapes.

Criteria:

  • Experience composing for a variety of small ensembles
  • A genuine interest in promoting diversity within the orchestral music sector and the wider society through music
  • The desire to write pieces to which young people and adults can relate whilst challenging the listener
  • A passion to question the classical music tradition whilst maintaining strong emotional drives within pieces
  • The readiness to adapt and explore composition and notation style, accounting for the individual requirements of players and their instruments
  • Ability to provide parts and scores in digital format to the Conductor compatible with Sibelius 7+ by January 2018
