A Tribute to Pete Seeger with Sam Amidon, Beth Orton, Paul Noonan, Lisa O’Neill, Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, Lynched, Tommy Sands, Voice Squad, Thomas Bartlett aka Doveman.

Curated by Sam Amidon and the National Concert Hall
Musical Director: Thomas Bartlett

Pete Seeger, the singer, folk-song collector and songwriter spearheaded an American folk revival. This concert sees artists from the traditional, folk and rock world gather to create a family and band for one night celebrating Seeger and the music he championed.

In May 1964 Pete travelled with his family to the remote Bluestacks mountains of rural southwest Co. Donegal to spend a single day in the company of elusive folk music legend John Doherty. Later that summer, July 1964, Irish uilleann piper, singer and folk music collector Seamus Ennis performed at the Newport Folk Festival in Newport, Rhode Island at the invitation of Pete Seeger and Alan Lomax.

Bringing together artists from both sides of the Atlantic this concert celebrates Seeger in song and word.
