Music & Musings: Amanda Feery WORLD PREMIERE

Music & Musings, an exciting new series from the Galway Music Residency in association with the Contemporary Music Centre, continues on Friday 17 November at 8.30pm in the Black Gate Cultural Centre. Music & Musings is series of short concerts featuring the Galway ConTempo Quartet, emerging and established composers from Ireland and guest artists. It presents high quality chamber music in an intimate setting, along with opportunities to eat, drink and meet the artists and composers.

The second installment of the series will feature the world premiere of Amanda Feery’s new piece for string quartet and uilleann pipes – Something Like Light But Not. This remarkable work was co-commissioned by the Galway City Council and will be performed by the Galway ConTempo Quartet and renowned piper Pádraic Keane. ConTempo will also perform Jane O’Leary’s The Passing Sound of Forever, while Pádraic Keane will perform a short solo set. The performances will be punctuated by discussion between composers and artists, with audience participation welcome.
