Minimal Film
MINIMAL FILM is an audiovisual performance of celebrated minimalist film scores brought to life on stage and accompanied by visuals. The concert will take place at the Samuel Beckett Theatre, situated at the heart of Trinity College Dublin. MINIMAL FILM will be exploring the relationship between minimalist influenced film music and contemporary film, reflecting the close relationship between composers and directors in portraying emotion and story on the big screen.
With music performed by Kirkos, MINIMAL FILM presents music from composers Philip Glass, Michael Nyman and David Lang with visuals from films such as The Piano, Drowning by Numbers, Bent, Mishima and Untitled. Max Richter’s On the Nature of Daylight will be performed to live improvised visuals by Derek Cosgrave and Alan Jacob of MIDASpaces. In addition, the evening will include a special performance of Philip Glass’ music from The Hours by Kian Geiselbrechtinger and David Bremner arranged for two Fender Rhodes pianos.
Curated by composer Natasa Paulberg, MINIMAL FILM will also premiere Natasa Paulberg’s suite for the documentary, Butterfly.
MINIMAL FILM promises to be an exciting evening of beautiful music and stunning visuals.
