An Evening With the Country Leitrim Percy French Society

An Evening With the Country Leitrim Percy French Society

Saturday, 12 May 2018, 8.00pm

The County Leitrim Percy French Society was formed by Tish Dunleavy to promote the works of the great Irish composer and raconteur Percy French. The aims of the society are to introduce the songs, recitations, sketches and parodies to a wider audience so more people get an appreciation of this great genius. The programme includes all the well known songs such as 'Phil the Fluther's ball', Eileen Óg', 'The Mountains of Mourne', 'Abdul Abul Bul', 'Gortnamona' and many many more wonderful pieces.

The show is presented as a first stage interpretation of Percy French with Frank Cadam taking the part of Percy. Frank relates the story of Percy in the first person and links all the songs, recitations, and sketches to tell Percy’s life story. Tish Dunleavy is the musical director and members of the performing group hail from all over Leitrim and Roscommon. The group had the honour of performing sell-out shows in the National Concert Hall, Dublin in October 2015 and June 2016, and also featured on BBC television with Michael Portillo.
