PT Lecturer: Business Structure of the Music Industry
NYU Los Angeles is seeking a local, part-time lecturer to teach an undergraduate course, Business Structure of the Music Industry under the sponsorship of the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions. The course will take place in the academic center in the Fairfax/La Brea area of Los Angeles. Teaching commences in Fall 2019 (September 3 through December 17).
The instructor role includes all preparation, delivery, and grading. Some administrative assistance is available to support the preparation of course materials. Courses are to be intellectually challenging in content and rigorous student assessment is required.
The course will provide a background study of all related areas of the multibillion-dollar music industry, including the evolution and operations of the record company, music publishing, artist management, live entertainment, copyright, business and consumer-facing digital services. The broad objective of this course is to understand the commercial and copyright basis for the music industry, and the importance of entrepreneurial thinking and opportunity recognition in the music industry.
