RTÉ is Ireland’s national public-service media organisation. A leader in Irish media, RTÉ provides comprehensive, cost-effective, free-to-air multi-media services to the public in Ireland and interested audiences internationally. RTÉ also has responsible for The RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, RTÉ Concert Orchestra, RTÉ Philharmonic Choir, RTÉ Cor na nÓg and the RTÉ Contempo String Quartet.

The RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra holds approximately 27 main season symphonic concerts per year (September through May) at the National Concert Hall in Dublin. In addition RTÉ NSO produces recordings as well as popular and educational concerts.

The RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra has a vacancy for the position of Orchestra Manager. Reporting to the General Manager, RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra Manager is a key member of a small, dynamic team and will manage the day-to-day operations of the orchestra, its musicians and support staff.

The responsibilities of the role will include the timely execution of programme plans and scheduling support staff to meet programming objectives. The successful candidate will manage operational budgets and all front-line matters including employee relations, musician welfare, internal communications and health & safety. In addition, s/he will manage, as appropriate, third party relationships including those with conductors, soloists, agents, promoters and venues.

The successful candidate will be educated to third level in a relevant discipline, and will have significant managerial experience, with budgetary and financial acumen, in the entertainment industry, ideally with an orchestra or other music ensemble. S/he will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, will be innovative and enterprising, deadline-driven, with a track record of achievement in a competitive business environment.

A fixed-purpose contract to cover maternity-related leave will be offered.
