The Presto Quartet was formed in 2012 at the CIT Cork School of Music and have had the privilege of being coached by Adrian Petcu, Christopher Marwood and Cian O’Duill.

The players are members of the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland and of the Cork Youth Orchestra, with which they performed in the Festival of Youth Orchestras in Tuscany in July 2016. The Presto Quartet has given performances in a variety of settings, such as Cork Culture Night, the SMEI conference, CSM Open Days, as part of the IAYO Festival of Youth Orchestras in the National Concert Hall (Music in the Foyer) and the AIB 100th Anniversary reception. The Presto has also performed in promotional concerts ahead of Cork Youth Orchestra performances. The Presto Quartet performed in the Feis Ceoil Gala Concert in the National Concert Hall in September 2016 and in the Triskel Arts Centre as part of the National Quartet Foundation CSM Chamber Music Showcase in November 2016.

Following a recommendation from the Carducci Quartet, who coached them as part of ConCorda 2016, they were accepted to the Wigmore Learning National Young String Quartet Weekend 2017 at Chetham's School in Manchester in February 2017. They also attended ConCorda Summer course in August 2017, where they engaged in varied chamber ensembles as well as in improvisation performance combining performance and theatre.

The Presto Quartet is committed to developing new skills, including performing contemporary music, and is delighted to be working with composer Ian Wilson.
