IMLÉ  (Gael Linn cefcd212)

IMLÉ’’s release is a ray of hope for the future of newly-composed music in Irish, there is no doubt about that.  Ben Ó Faoláin – nos.ie

Subtly groovy stuff that doesn’t really fall neatly between any set of pews musically. Adoption of the mother tongue is but one aspect of IMLÉ’s sound.   Mike McGrath-Bryan – broadsheet.ie

IMLÉ are an unconventional band with a unique sound, based around 3 vocalists with very diverse musical backgrounds. Their sound mixes poetry, rap and pop music in a way that has never been heard before - particularly in the Irish Language. Fergal Moloney’s ethereal vocals blend with Marcus Mac Conghail’s intense punk poetry and the infectious flow of MC Muipéad’s rap vernacular. Founded by the band’s bass player Cian Mac Cárthaigh, their mission statement was to create something different that was uncompromising & honest. IMLÉ’s debut album explores the meaning of life, our relationship with the planet and finding hope within despair.

In their short time together the band have been busy. Playing Electric Picnic, Féile na Bealtaine (Dingle), Liú Lúnasa (Belfast) and IMRAM Festival (Dublin), as well as TV appearances on TG4’s 20th Anniversary show and I Lár an Aonaigh on BBC 2 NI. Along with recording & releasing their debut album, produced by Karl Odlum & released by Gael Linn.

At the beginning of December the band will participate in the international music competition & festival SUNS EUROPE in Udine Italy. A nationwide tour is set to be announced in early 2017.

Their self-titled debut album is now on release. Available from www.gael-linn.ie, music stores, iTunes & Spotify.

Cúis dóchais do thodhchaí an cheoil nua-chumtha Ghaeilge í eisiúint ‘IMLÉ’, bí cinnte de sin

Ben Ó Faoláin  - nos.ie

Is banna ceoil neamhghnách iad IMLÉ, a bhfuil fuaim ar leith acu a eascraíonn as éagsúlacht chúlraí an triúr amhránaithe. Sníomhtar filíocht, rapcheol agus popcheol le chéile i bhfuaim an bhanna ar bhealach úr nach bhfuil a leithéid cloiste againn roimhe seo – go háirithe sa Ghaeilge. Measctar glór neamhshaolta Ferghal Moloney le puncfhilíocht ghléineach Mharcais Mhic Conghail agus rapáil lúfar thógálach MC Muipéad. Rud éigin a chruthú a bheadh éagsúil, neamhghéilliúil agus ionraic; b’in ráiteas misin an bhanna nuair a bhunaigh Cian Mac Cárthaigh, dordghiotáraí, ar dtús é, agus cíorann a gcéad albam cuid de cheisteanna móra an tsaoil: brí na beatha, ár gcaidreamh leis an bpláinéad agus aimsiú an dóchais san éadóchas.

Tá neart déanta ag an mbanna, in ainneoin nach bhfuil siad le chéile i bhfad. Sheinn siad ag an bPicnic Leictreach, Féile na Bealtaine (sa Daingean), Liú Lúnasa (i mBéal Feirste) agus Féile IMRAM (i mBaile Átha Cliath), agus chonacthas ar an teilifís iad freisin ar an gclár comórtha TG4 XX agus ar I Lár an Aonaigh ar BBC2 NI. Anuas air sin d’éirigh leo a gcéad albam a thaifeadadh agus a chur amach, albam a d’eisigh Gael Linn agus a raibh Karl Odlum mar léiritheoir air.

Ag tús mhí na Nollag glacfaidh an banna páirt san fhéile idirnáisiúnta cheoil SUNS EUROPE, ar comórtas é freisin, in Udine na hIodáile, agus go luath san Athbhliain fógróidh siad camchuairt náisiúnta.

Tá céadalbam an bhanna, IMLÉ, le fáil anois ag www.gael-linn.ie, i siopaí ceoil, ar iTunes agus ar Spotify.
