COMPOSIUM Commission for Women

COMPOSIUM Commission for Women

Monday, 10 December 2018, 11.55pm

PRS for Music, Wild Plum Arts and Cheltenham Music Festival are partnering to offer the chance to take part in a workshop and have work commissioned for Cheltenham Music Festival’s COMPOSIUM – a new one-day industry-wide event for composers, publishers, music industry leaders and influencers on 10 July 2019.

Six composers will have the opportunity to attend a two-day workshop in London on 8-9 March 2019. Composers will take part in professional development sessions with industry experts and hear their works for mezzo-soprano and piano performed in a workshop by Rachael Lloyd and Lana Bode. This is an opportunity to try out new ideas or techniques and receive feedback from mentor composers Joanna Lee and Errollyn Wallen in a supportive environment. Composers will also receive an audio-visual recording of their workshop for their own personal use.

UK travel and accommodation (where required) will be provided.

Wild Plum Arts and Cheltenham Music Festival will commission one of the works from the workshop for further development, to be premiered during COMPOSIUM on 10 July 2019 and included in the Wild Plum Songbook, a growing portfolio of newly-commissioned works.

The duration of the commissioned work will be 3-4 minutes and the composer will receive a commission fee of £1,000 plus UK travel and accommodation (where required) to attend the premiere.

Any texts used for the workshop or the commissioned work must be in the public domain or used with the permission of the copyright owner.
