A Dublin briefing session for Sky Academy’s Arts Scholarships initiative will take place on Tuesday 27th January in The Liquor Rooms, Dublin from 5.30pm. An artist aged 18-30 based in Ireland will be granted a fund of €38,000 and high-level mentoring allowing them to focus exclusively on the creative practice for a year.

The Sky Academy Arts Scholarships are designed to support emerging artistic talent. In addition to the fund, each artist receives a short film about their project and practice, and wider developmental support from Sky and IdeasTap. 

The Sky Academy Arts Scholarships are open to individuals working in the Performing arts, Dance, Music, Visual arts, Creative producing and Creative writing (but not film or TV scripts).

The briefing session, organised by Business to Arts who are supporting the selection of an Irish artist, will guide potential Irish applicants through the process, giving tips and hints on how best to communicate their creative vision in the application..

The session will be attended by Sky Academy, Sky Arts and IdeasTap representatives, as well as the recently appointed Ambassador for the Irish scholarship, Kris Nelson, Director of the Tiger Dublin Fringe.

Application process
·         Artists must sign up to IdeasTap in advance – it’s free (www.ideastap.com).
·         Artists are invited to apply by submitting either a written or filmed application, allowing applicants to choose the format they feel most comfortable with.
·         The closing date for receipt of Irish applications is 5th March 2015.
·         Sky will award one Scholarship to an artist in Ireland.
·         There will be a separate Irish shortlist, who will be interviewed in Ireland by the Irish scholarships ambassador, Sky and IdeasTap representatives.
·         Winners from UK and Ireland will be announced in June 2015.

Restrictions
·         To apply, you must be an IdeasTap member aged 18-30 on the closing date (5 March 2015)
·         Be a citizen of the ROI or have been resident ROI for the last five years. You must currently be living in Ireland and be able to remain living in ROI for the duration of the scholarship to be eligible to apply.
·         You may only apply in one category that best suits your work only.
·         You may select either a written OR filmed application when filling out the application form.
