Niwel Tsumbu with Éamonn Cagney : To you, our people – Exploring inspiration tour 2018

Virtuoso guitarist and singer Niwel Tsumbu, and percussionist Éamonn Cagney embark on an Irish tour previewing and premiering new music from their upcoming album release.

Both intimate and elaborate, expect a musical river flowing whose sources range from classical to Central Africa and way beyond.

10 years ago the duo released their debut album “A Long way / Nzela Molayi”, and they have since travelled the world, working with Liam Ó Maonlaí, Michéal Ó Suilleabháin, Afel Bocoum (Ali Farka Touré), Iarla Ó Lionáird, Ma Xiaoue (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon), The Abbey Theatre, Donal Dineen, and collaborated soundtracks, opera, and countless other musical forms from contemporary music to traditional dance.

Over a year in the writing, their exciting new music will be premiered on this Irish spring tour, before the album release and international performances in 2018.

“This duo had a cataclysm of moods and moves to share, unveiling a cavernous stash of redemptive music, and promise of much more to come.” Irish Times
“Niwel Tsumbu trades in good vibrations” Siobhan Long, Irish Times
“Tsumbu and Cagney's fiery percussive exchange crowned a memorable performance” All about Jazz
