Music Current: PERISONIC

Music Current: PERISONIC

Saturday, 29 April 2017, 8.00pm

PERISONIC is a large-scale, immersive, panoramic ‘painting’ of Dublin. Immersed in surround-sound and accompanied by video, the audience is invited to explore new sonic and visual perspectives of the city.

Commissioned by Dublin Sound Lab, this installation marks the 230th anniversary year of Robert Barker’s patent application for the ‘panorama painting’, the 18th century predecessor of today’s virtual reality experiences.

In this major collaboration, composers Scott Mc Laughlin , Gráinne MulveyFergal Dowling, video artist Mihai Cucu, and creative producer Sabina Bonnici, extend Barker’s vision of a 360-degree experience by re-imagining a cityscape constructed in pure sound.

This 30min installation is best experienced by moving and standing in the space, though a small number of seats will be available. There will be two showings: 8pm & 9pm.

This unique installation concludes MUSIC CURRENT 2017, a three-day festival of contemporary electronic music proudly brought to you by Dublin Sound Lab. More details at www.musiccurrent.ie.
