Cantairí Avondale is a multi-award winning, auditioned SATB adult choir of around 60 singers.  We usually perform 3 concerts per year, with occasional additional engagements as and when they arise. Since 1970 the choir has developed its reputation for performing an eclectic mix of music, both sacred and secular, with the emphasis on a cappella repertoire, oratorio and early music in particular – we have also commissioned new choral works from Irish composers.

Rehearsals are held weekly in Dublin city centre on Monday evenings.

Candidates should have previous proven experience of running similar adult choirs, have appropriate keyboard skills and be prepared to work alongside the choir committee in determining programmes, concert and other performance dates, and discussions regarding the choir’s development.

We are looking for someone who can inspire and engage the choir with their passion for high quality choral singing, along with a clear directing style and a sense of fun.

Following an interview, shortlisted candidates will be invited to audition by directing a piece well-known to the choir (which will be sent to shortlisted candidates in advance) and one unfamiliar piece of the candidate’s own choosing.
