Job Introduction
Radio is the home of eight of the BBC’s national radio stations, four Performing Groups and the BBC Proms as well as classical and pop music production across radio, television and online.

The Popular Music Live Music & Events team within Radio delivers live music and Outside Broadcasts (OBs) activity across Radios 1, Radio 2, 6 Music and 1Xtra  plus BBC Music, BBC Introducing and Asian Network. The team works closely with colleagues in the stations, TV and Outside Broadcasts.  The Live Events Co-ordinators work across the Popular Music stations’ live output to deliver events and OBs.

The flagship events in the busy live events calendar include BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Radio 1’s Teen Awards, 1Xtra Live , 6 Music Festival, BBC Music Awards and Asian Network Live.

Role Responsibility
Co-ordinator roles sit within Radio Content Management and will be part of a team that sits within any of the following disciplines - Production Management, Operations, Business or scheduling.

Your main duties will be:
– To co-ordinate the operational and planning requirements for the stations’ live events and OB activity
– To co-ordinate process and systems for delivering live events and OB activity e.g. scheduling, technical operation and administration.
– To implement BBC policies and work within BBC guidelines
– To seek opportunities to drive continuous improvement
– To implement operational changes as required liaising with all stakeholders and suppliers
– To work as part of a team supporting station management teams

The Ideal Candidate
To be successful in this role, in addition to your in-depth knowledge and passion for popular music, you will need experience of project managing live events from BBC owned initiatives through to external festivals and events.  You will also need substantial experience of co-ordinating the operational and planning requirements for live events and OB activity including knowledge of the processes and systems required. Experience of Health and Safety and logistical organisation of popular music live events is essential. You will ideally have a good track record of liaising with radio networks departments, music promoters, music bodies, record labels external event contractors and local authorities. You will also need the ability to deliver accurate and detailed information under pressure, in order to meet multiple deadlines.
