Finghin Collins at the Large Room Waterford
Waterford Music presents internationally renowned Irish pianist, Finghin Collins at The Large Room, City Hall, Waterford on Thursday 15 March at 7.30 pm. Collins will showcase music by no less than three composers currently working in this area: Gerry Murphy, Eric Sweeney and Waterford Music's very own Artistic Advisor, Marian Ingoldsby. The programme will also include works by Field, Rachmaninov and a series of preludes by Chopin from Collins’s recently released CD.
Tickets €15 (€5 students) on the door. www.waterford-music.org
One of Ireland's most successful and respected musicians, Finghin Collins took first prize at the Clara Haskil International Piano Competition in Switzerland in 1999. Since then he has enjoyed a flourishing international career that takes him all over Europe and the United States, as well as to the Far East and Australia. He has contributed enormously to the development of music in Ireland not only through his concerts, recordings and teaching but also as Founder and Director of the New Ross Piano festival and as Artistic Director of Galway Music.
We are very happy that Finghin has taken time from his busy schedule to play in Waterford this year: later in 2018 he will make two appearances at the Wigmore Hall in London, participate in the Jury of the Dublin International Piano Competition and perform in Ireland, the UK, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Spain, Greece and Cuba.
